Meet the Team: Alex Holland

What prior experienced do you bring to Livingbridge?

Prior to joining Livingbridge I worked at Clearwater where I spent my time advising on mid-market deals across sectors, working both buy-side and sell-side. This provided a great foundation from which to enter the world of private equity, having gained first-hand experience of working with and across from numerous private equity houses. Prior to this, I spent two years in PwC's Transaction Services team performing Financial Due Diligence, before which I qualified in audit.

The best piece of advice you've given or received

When nearing the end of my audit training contract I was unsure of what my next step was going to be - be that changing roles, cities or even country. A piece of advice that stuck with me - if you don't know exactly what you do want to do, choose the option that keeps as many doors open as possible whilst you try and decide. This is something I tried to employ when moving from audit into Transaction Services, then into Corporate Finance. A career is a long time so don't feel the need to risk rushing into something you're not sure you want to do.

Your favourite book?

As a Red Hot Chilli Peppers fan, Anthon Kiedis's autobiography is certainly one that stands out in my mind. In homage to Ronan Keating, Anthony's life is a roller coaster - he's continuously had to display resilience to overcome adversity on his journey of self-discovery. This is closely followed by Warren Buffet and the Business of Life of course…

When I am not working I am...

Exploring the great outdoors the (wet) UK has to offer - be it running or walking - as well as watching my beloved football team, Leicester City. I also try and make the most of living in central Manchester, capitalising on the vibrant food and music scene which seems to be ever expanding.
